Hey CG, It isn't that bad to get started. There are some things that are higher at Wal Mart than through a wholesaler, but you will find that is mostly on the artificail baits, lures and such. BUT, some wholesalers will have "sales in Jan-Feb where you can buy in bulk and save money. I am over in NE Ark and I can give you some wholesalers to get in contact with. One I know will deliver there in OK.Quote:

Your slow months will hurt (Dec-Feb) and the hot months usually July-August. It is a good business and you meet and make lots of friends. Just be honest and treat em right like you would want to be treated. Good Luck!

If you don't have any close feed stores , selling feed or pvc plumbing supplies is good backup during the winter months.
One thing that has helped us get thru the slow winter months is cooking. We do small breakfast and hamburgers. During hunting season, hunters would stop by and grab a bite to eat as there are very few eating places around here close. We also sold deer corn before deer season.
We are currently working on a project to raise our own worms and crickets to cut down on bait costs. We hope to raise enough extras to supplement the other bait shops in surrounding areas.
