The so called "spawn" is virtually over at Hefner for the walleye. The walleye do not get off a very productive spawn on Hefner because the wind and waves are not stout enough to provide good aeration for the eggs. The walleye that are stocked in Hefner are harvested from Canton and raised at the Byron Fish Hatchery. The last batch of nets will be removed from Canton dam probably on Saturday.

Walleye were still biting as of sunday evening. I got a 6lb 24 inch eye on the dam about 9pm on sunday. Has anyone been out for crappie at Hefner in the last week or so. I am thinking about trying the late afternoon on tuesday or wednesday.

I am going to check water temp today

What are you fishing with i been trying for two months with jigs and crankbaits and still no walleye
-
Sparky, I have been using jigs with 3"grubs and shallow diving cranks right in the rocks. I have been twice this week befor the rain and they have moved off the rocks. Will post if I get any but have switched focus to crappie there and will be trying some other places as well. Good luck

fished hefner today and only caught five. they were in 3-6 feet of water. Two of them hit a pink and black jig and the other three came on minnows. Water is clear and is 62-63 degrees. All fish were males and 4 of them were around 10 inches.

LLD - I assume you are talking about crappie????

yes cricket...crappie....seems like hefner is always the last lake to spawn and when it does it is fast...temps are pretty warm..but it seems that there are just not that many crappie left in hefner anymore

crappie fishing at hefner has been hit and miss over the last week....fished before the storms and caught over thirty from the bank ...only one was ten inches....fished after the norman storm and caught 5....fished from the boat two days ago and caught about 25...all dinks...came across a few largemouth bass on the banks and caught three around two pounds.....i did hear some guys talking that they had caught around thirty on monday from the dock...not sure on what or how big.
