Though the 15' looks tempting I'm really committed to my little o 12' tin. It's just my size. Not to mention my 12' has taller sides than most tins I come across. Appreciate your interest crappiepappa.

The small Mercs are built by Tohatsu. I had a 2000 model 2 stroke 25 HP Merc on my Tracker and I did not know until later that it was built by Tohatsu, but as it turned out that motor was bullet proof. It ran 14 years without a single problem. I recently traded it to get a larger motor, otherwise it would have been with me to the end I suspect.
As far as I know they build the 4 strokes as well. I think up to 75 hP or so, anything larger is built by Mercury.
Just got back from the dealership and the owner credited my credit card back out of his own pocket!!! He stated he still hadn't received the money back from Voyager boats and that they weren't answering his phone calls. In addition he stated he wasn't ever doing business with this company again. I appreciate everyone's support, listening to me and allowing me to vent. Great group of people here.
I am so glad that someone finally stepped up and did the right thing! I can only imagine the frustration you have been dealing with. I applaud your patience thru all of this. Now you can get on with getting you a motor!
Just got back from BPS. Going with the Mercury 25 HP PT&T. The have it in stock. Wanted the 30 HP but can't justify 5 more HP for $800 more. As soon as the credit back to my credit card is finalized I will be getting it. Hopefully midweek next week.
Glad to hear things are looking up for you Dr!!!!
Glad to hear that it worked out for you buddy. I just traded off a little Mercury for my 9.5hp that is now on my 12 footer. Everything that I have ever heard about them is that they are dang good motors. Not sure if this helps but I figured, I would throw a wooden nickle worths into the conversation.

Well I called Harbour Marine out of Hot Springs Arkansas this morning. This is the boat shop I was going to order my boat from if I went with the Weldbilt boat. But I went with the Weld Craft and purchased it down the street in Hot Springs. It looks like I will be going with a 30 HP Tohatsu PT&T from him. He is $400 cheaper than the ETEC I was going to get and $235 cheaper than BPS on the Mercury 25 HP. The Tohatsu comes with a 5 year warranty whereas the Mercury is only a 3 year warranty. I will be getting 5 more HP for cheaper just have to make an 11 hour round trip to get it and probably burn up that $235 saving in gas. Well worth it for more power, longer warranty and beautiful drive through that part of Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Tohatsu is a great engine. Here I'm the Ms delta all you see on the catfish farms is that engine. They literally put them thru hell 365 days a year and they continue to use them as their first choice.
Nip what is your boat rated for ?
30 hp. :)
Sounds like your getting more for your money, you went wanting a 30 to begin with. When you going to go get it?
ASAP!!!! Just waiting on the refund to post back to my account. Can take up to 10 days! Usually only takes a few though. I'm looking at the end of the week maybe the beginning of next. This is my goal and could change if he sells the one in stock.
The 25 Merc from BPS was in all probability made by Tohatsu. They mark them up because of the Mercury name, but you are getting the same make for less money and more HP to boot. Don't see how you can go wrong with that. When I was looking to upgrade from my 25 Mercury that came on my Tracker, if I could have found a good used Tohatsu 40 or 50 I would have bought it without a second thought.
Plus a 2 year longer warranty. Mercury only 3 years and Tohatsu 5 years.
Oh boy! Just got the call, my motor is in. Only took one week! Leaving out at 3 am for Hot Springs Arkansas to have it installed.
Yee haw!! Happy happy for you! Congratulations! that's awesome.
Yeah!!!
Congratulations
Ok, made it home. Started at 3 am and back by 5 pm. I have a motor!!! I now have to wait for the certificate of origin to be mailed to me so I can get it tagged. It can take up to a week they said! I've gotten pretty good at the hurry up and wait game.

Sweet!
Yeah buddy! Congrats!
Now I can finally rest. The 10 week long nightmare is over.
Looking good NIP!!! I am glad for you.I bet that boat will FLYYYYY with that 30hp!!!
You don't need to wait for the tags to go fishing. Your bill of sale is good for 30 days. Hope to see you out at Thunderbird soon.
That 12 foot flat bottom is going to be scary fast with a 30 hp on it. I had a older 9.9 tohatsu on a 14 footer and it'd push me around 25 mph. Glad ya got your motor Nip!!
Good to know IkenI
Terry Patterson is the owner of harbour marine.
Great guy. He will treat you right.
The top speed is in. 32.1 MPH!!! If the water was smooth it would probably hit 35 MPH. In a 12' jon boat this is silly stupid fast! :yikes
Boat rides great. Small and gets me where I want to go. Gets down the lake quickly too if needed.

that's insane. My old lonestar 14' v did 25mph and that was almost too fast for that small of a boat. I can't imagine over 30mph in a smaller boat.
It was quit exhilarating! It was scary at 1st but then I got use to it. Felt like I was flying.
That's fast!! Be sure to wear your PFD (and probably a crash helmet)!:yikes
Oh yeah, I have a life vest on and kill switch. You won't find me on the water without it just like you won't find me driving without a seatbelt. Better safe than dead!
It is way more motor than what I need or will use. I maxed it out to what the hull was rated so in the event I get a bigger boat I'll be able to transfer the motor. 20 MPH felt safe.
One big roller and you're airborne.
Well if the bite is off you can always pull skiers!
Back in the late 50's, I raced 12' flatbottom hydroplanes with 30hp motors. Top speed was about 35mph. At that speed, a common problem was air getting under the bow of the boat and the "wing effect" occuring. I learned a lot about aerodynamics the hard way. Be safe...and good fishing....dave
Oh I don't have plans of going 30 mph down the lake. 20 mph was just fine. The extra HP will help if fishing with someone and/or livewell full.
Congrats Nip on your motor troubles finally being over. Wow, that top speed is way fast in that little boat. My 22' pontoon has a 4-stroke 90hp and 27-28 is about my max speed.
