There is a scam going on right now that will cost you big bucks if you fall for it. Your cell phone rings, but before you have time to answer, the call ends. Some people out of curiosity will dial the number back to see what they missed. Big mistake. These calls originate from Central and South America and they display valid area codes. But when you call the number, you are charged around $20 for the call plus $10 per minute. You WILL be placed on hold as soon as the computer on the other end answers your call.
The call I got the other night came from the infamous 268 area code..........a known fraud based area code. I did not call it back. I advise you don't either.

Thx for heads up
Are they charging cell phone customers or landline I have received two calls like that last week .
Hmmm, I've been getting calls from Guatamala(looked up the country code) late at night. I answered last night and a woman on the other end said, "que" then hung up. Called me back a couple times and actually left a message with just another, "que" followed by a broken English, "hello" then hung up. I blocked the number but didn't call it back. I wonder if that is what that was all about???
I guess if a person gets a call from some strange unfamiliar number then don't answer and see if they leave a message.

If they don't leave a message I don't know them and it must not have been very important, on your home phone they may be checking to see if you are home
