If you want to kick it up a notch, use the instant Banana Cream pudding instead of Vanilla!!!!

My wife uses the recipe that my mother used. It is on most of the Nilla vanilla wafer boxes. It involves cooking the custard using egg yolks, and making a meringue with the egg whites. This is a lot of work, but in my opinion nothing else comes close to this.

SeaRay - Your wife is commended for using your mother's recipe. I am not that culinarily inclined.

OkieDon - I actually used the banana cream pudding mix since I had already bought 2 boxes of it.Afterwards I realized my mistake. I am still shoveling it in and should wear myself out on it soon. I made a double batch

Well if you can talk someone into fixing it that way for you I promise you it will spoil you for life. I went and looked at the box in our pantry and it has the recipe so if you decide you want it let me know.

SeaRay, that's the way my Mom made nanner puddin' too. And it was some kind of good. I just hope she can't see me from Heaven when I eat this new recipe though!!! I much prefer it over the old school way!!! Better not let you Wife see how easy this new recipe is!!
