Default Purchasing a Yamaha (115) on pontoon...looking for service

First pontoon and FIRST 4 stroke. Wondering where you guys in Oklahoma go to for service on your Yamaha's? Will ask the same thing on the Missouri and KS boards. Would rather hear from you people as to who would be reputable...will have to travel some either way I go so that really isn't to much of a factor. Live in SE KS.

Been in 1 boat (35 yrs of fishing) that had a 4 stroke, worked ok...quiet for sure...really looking forward to seeing how it performs especially with the pontoon.

Do any of you guys do your own maintenance? Looks like I might need to get some software and cord to connect the engine interface with a laptop...any thoughts or directions on that?

    thanks

I have had a 115 four stoke Yamaha (at least till about Friday ...) for 7 years on my Xpress X-70. I have done most all my own maintenance, which only consists of changing oil, lower unit, spark plugs. Changing oil is no big deal at all. Filter is easy to get to. Has been a great motor, quiet and fuel efficient.

I haven't had need of a Yamaha mechanic (and hopefully you won't either) so I can't help you there. As for software and cords, my 2000 model doesn't have any of that. Maybe someone else will chime in with some helpful info in that regard.

By lower unit, I mean lower unit grease. Never a lower unit problem

Thanks for taking the time to share Winger....from what I have read and been told lately, yearly maintenance is not that big a deal....again, thanks for taking the time to reply and have a great 4th!
