If this freeze keeps up like it's supposed to, you should be able to do some ice fishing.

It is froze and probably will be for a while. I live by the lake and will keep the board posted on the ice conditions.

Take a flat bottom boat out on the ice and use a pitchfork for an oar. That was Odies suggestion.

"If this freeze keeps up like it's supposed to, you should be able to do some ice fishing."

I sure hope no one here in Oklahoma tries to ice fish. We'll start hearing news reports of people drowning\freezing to death. Up north, those folks are used to ice fishing and know when it's fairly safe and even then, several people die every year when they fall through the ice.

If I'm not mistaken, people up north don't wander out onto the ice until they've had a couple of months of hard freeze and the ice is at least 6-8" thick. Some bodies of water have a layer of ice over one foot thick and that will support a vehicle.

Me, I am happy to remain alive, warm, and safe and can buy some fish if I get a hankering. No amount of money could cause me to walk out onto ice so I could fish.

    Default Ice Fishing

When I lived in Northern Illinois we used to take the drive over to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. I've seen full size RVs and many cars and trucks parked out on the ice. The fisherman camp out there!!

Used to live in northern Michigan and if you didn't ice fish your fishing season was incredibly short!!! Lots of Northern Pike through the ice standing next to the jeep 1/2 mile from the shore. Ice was 18-24 inches. Lots of fun and excellent fishing.
