A buddy and I fished below the dam yesterday and had good luck. The action was good and steady. We caught crappie, sand bass, spots, largemouth, and a couple very nice Sauger/Saugeye.
The sand bass were most active, they are gorging on the shad right now. Just throw them an Excalibur and hold on! I did get into the crappie after a while. I was fishing a 1/16th oz jig with BG baby shad (caught them on Monkey Milk, Crystal, and the black/chartreuse).

Sounds like you sure caught a good variety of fish. I bet those walleye or saugeye sure fought good, and I know they'll taste good. Lots of fun below the dam when the fish are biting good. Glad to hear you caught some good fish Penny, thanks for the report.

Fished the brush piles today that were out of the wind and ended up with 28 keepers. I didn't think we had a chance right after a frontal passage, who knew?
Most of the fish were caught 12 to 18 ft deep with minnows, on top of the brush or on the bottom, where ever you could find them. Water temp was 80 degrees in coves off of the main lake.

My buddy and I had a pretty good day on the water over Labor day weekend. The crappie gave us a good preview of whats to come this fall as they try to bulk up for Winter. We caught 64 keepers 10 inches or better with quite a few over 12 inches. The crappie were in one of those rare moods were they bit throughout the day and we finally decided to go when we ran out of minnows. We caught the crappie fishing brush piles in 15-16ft of water. We used jigs and minnows and the minnows outproduced the jigs. Bobby Garlands baby shad in Licorice was the best jig we found today. The wind blowing 10-20 made it pretty tough fishing, but the fish didn't seem to mind. I finally figured out how to post some pictures and the wife said she'd let me use her camera if I promised not to get any fish smell or slime on it. The fish looked a lot nicer before we put them on ice. It looks likes we're in for a great fall on Oologah lake.
