Fished on Monday with my 2 oldest grandsons and Friday with a grownup (whew). Caught 213 total. Magic depth for us was 15' and we caught em at 11' or right off the bottom. The water in Oo was the clearest I have ever seen it and it was fun to see those fish come up for a change. They hit minnows or big jigs about the same- color was monkey milk with a clear tail with patriotic sparkles. Kyle has fallen in love with cast and drag and I embarrassed myself minner soaking. Saw several boats out trolling for sand bass and walleye and saw a pile of huge walleye fillets at the ramp. If anyone knows how and where to catch walleye on Oo please let me know as I would love to give that a shot. Include ding a picture of most of the gkids with the walking sticks I made em to use at Robbers Cave last Saturday. After the hike we tied on mono and a hook and they learned to forage for bait and use a twig for a bobber- about as primitive as it gets for this generation but they got into it and caught some little bluegill.

I think Ciller (George) really out-fished me Friday with minnows. There were several times that I was tempted to put down my cast and drag and grab my minnow rod (which I did bring on the trip). That's what I love about the CC tourneys, they really force you to change things up. You can't use the same methods on every lake, or even on the same lake depending on the time of the year. It's a great challenge! This year I have learned how to double dip, fish lay downs and submerged brush with cast and drag, dipping stumps and lay downs, troll crank baits (I never thought I would do that for crappie), slow troll jigs, jig and bobber, and probably a few others. Like I said, it's been fun and challenging. However, I'm definitely not above using minnows. I'm a catcher, not a fisher. :)

When the bite is slow and people on my boat fail to set the hook before they start reeling I tend to go grumpy old guy on em about the third time they do that. That's about the extent of my patience Fabio, 3 strikes and your out! But I'm working on it- especially with Crappie Cooker who is otherwise pretty perfect and sometimes reads my posts. (-;

Ciller, I got into the Walleye on Saturday while bass fishing. Points and gently sloping banks on the north side of Blue Creek. Didn't fish them that much but at one point had 4 on in 6-8 casts. They were in about 4-7 feet of water, my crankbait had to be bumping the bottom. Citrus color. The first three points going into Blue produced. Talked to a local that had been doing the same type deal and having success. The ones I boated where 15-16 inch fish, one that pulled off was a stud.

Did they change the length minimum on Oologah for Walleye/Saugeye to the new State 14" or is it still at 18" ? You don't have much meat on a 14" but I seem to have catch thousands of 17-17.5" over the past few years when all lakes where 18".

10401- thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction. Now I just have to figure out how to leave crappie that are willing and go learn a new trick!

Fished a brush pile in 16 FOW yesterday about 2p-5p. Caught 46 keepers. Threw back over 20. Had the fam fishing minnows on a jig head; learning to set the hook and swing fish on a 10' rod. I was fishing a black and chartreuse jig, they killed me (according to my 7 y/o anyway) but it kept me able to take care of fish and re-bait for them. Good time!
