Went out yesterday evening and got skunked. Oologah is beginning to make me question my fishing skills.
I fished Will Rogers, Blue Creek area and even Redbud not a bite. Tried nearly every boby garland color there is.
I even followed the shad balls and saw allot of fish. Still no bite. Last year, I had a full deep freezer.
What's the Deal?
That sucks!
Water temp in the Redbud area today at 11am was 47.2
I didn't get to fish but was honing in my HDS and marking a few spots since the water level is still low.
With the water temps at 45 or better you would think the crappie would be in the mouth of the creeks. I know it's different every lake or river you fish, but this passed weekend we were fishing ( spider rigging with minnows) on truman lake about 4 hours NW of here and the water temps were around 40 degrees and we were catching fins in 15 to 20 foot of water, but were we're only fishing 3 to 5 feet from the serface.
When you were out checking thing out we're you finding any big groups of shad?
Crappie Ciller thinks something is eating all his fish, and decided to go find them. This is what he found! You know, his technique never changes either! Here we go: count, measure, weight, photo, and recount just make sure he has his limit! Did have a great day! Ciller ended up with a 47, 35,and 29 that were all released, and a 2 man limit!
Nice Fish Chiller..guess those lil 2lb crappie will never compare I put you on..lol..hes certainly a HOOT ledge...Ranger
Way to go TC and George, you guys killed them slimy devils. Keep up the good work guys, maybe you'll save the crappie population. Man I bet ya'll heard some squealing drag from them big suckers.
A little late but short report, it is still bad for me on Oologah!! I fished with good friend on mine Tuesday and we caught 4 fish total in 5 hours, the biggest was a whopping 6 inches long. We tried the rip rap at Winganon, Talala Creek, Goose Island, and Bell cove. I have never seen the fishing this slow for so many people that I consider good Oologah fisherman. It has to get better because it can't get any worse.
Odie
I think I threw my back out trying to hold those slimers up while Ledge got the perfect artistic angle for each shot but it was worth it to rid the crappie world of 30 slab suckers. In that last picture I was actually leaning over the hot tub to splash some water in my face and try to revive myself a little before the afternoon bite kicked in. Wanted to get to that 48 degree lake water but in TC's Ark you need a rope ladder and some snacks just to make the effort. Despite the burden of it all it was still one of my top ten best fishing days ever and 47 lbs was definitely the biggest fish I ever got without a gun and I am willing to make the sacrifice again if it means saving some more lives of the only fish that really matter. You're welcome guys.
