I went a fished yesterday for about 3 hours to hit some of my old tournament spots. I ended up with 12 fish had one that was 15 inches weighing a little under 2lbs. I had another 1.5lbs the rest were around a pound. I was spider-rigging 3ft deep in 5 fow with a 12ft poles. There is a little trick to landed big crappie with this technique.
Stink is the water clearing up any..Fished today in the Rock Creek area above the bridge and found fish scattered and shallow..not like yesterday when all were males except 2, today all were females except 2..had 19 today and caught them on brn/orange and blk/pink..not to good considering the temp of the water and time of the yr..water was 65 at the start of the day and got up 70 degrees around 2pm..alil after 1 they got the lock jaw and you couldnt wish 1 up..fished brush early in 6' to 12' and never got a bump..it was on the bank in 1' to 4' or nothing where I was at..all except 1 was caught on cork and jig and again they were very scattered..gonna give em a break over the weekend and try and find some bigger fish come Tuesday and look in some different spots on the lake. With the temps getting right they should head back to the banks very quick.
Yep ranger, the water is quite a bit clearer now than it was last week.Hands Clapping
Jim, I think I saw your twin yesterday..something about that smile, didnt think there could be 2..fishing in the upper end of Rock Creek and not seeing anyone up that far all day and here comes a bright red War Eagle boat with a 115 Merc and a short sawed off feller with a huge smile that makes me think of just 1 person..you have a twin Stink..anyway I just wanted to pass that along that we are not alone, THERE MAYBE 2. I hollered STINK and I got a funny look from about 50 yds, not sure what might of been going thru his thoughts..
fished this weekend off my dock....wow...what a difference from this time last year......caught over 300 a year ago...this year maybe 35 that were all dinks.....sand bass were gathered in good numbers chasing shad like they were last year...but no crappie....the water has come up around 10 feet at my dock in the last few weeks....great for boaters....not so much for my crappie this weekend.....the water is now in the brush....I can see a wonderful crappie season coming in the next few weeks, unless they start dumping water out of the dam....keep our fingers crossed they won't.........Ill go back in a week or sor and try again....Good Luck!!!!
Went out with E.B. down south yesterday and got on fish soon as we rigged up, 5' to 6' ow. was the best depth. Jigs tipped with minnows, later in the evening the wind laid down and it was a hot bite for a 2 hour span. Ended up with 45 keepers, alot of throwbacks and we rolled up and lost probly 20 more. 7 big fish weighed 10lbs. Thumbs Up
Thanks Brian for an informational and and exciting lesson on Spider riggin!
Does anyone have any info (FISHING REPORTS) on the crappie fishing on the north end of the lake around the I40 bridge?
