On the other hand I do like to watch that bobber slowly sink!
My favorite pattern is in the summer when its hot in late June early July flippin a cork and minnow under shaded willow trees and stumps up the creek. Slip cork, split shot, hook and minnow. Love it! EB
Cancer claimed my fishing buddy early this morning. He lived here in Arrowhead Estates and has been a faithful fishing friend for years. He leaves a wife, several kids, and grandkids. Tom was well liked and respected for his kindness and pleasant disposition. He loved to fish and I've watched him pull crappie after crappie out of this lake while the rest of us sat watching. Never quite figured out what Tom did to be able to skunk the rest of us. RIP Tom....... you'll be missed.
Sorry to hear Stink.
Stink, we were very sorry to hear about Tom's passing. There are several in the area that are truly going to miss him and miss fishing with him as well.
Kim and I were out on a golf cart ride yesterday and drove by your place but we didn't see your truck. We'll try to catch up with you soon.
As for fishing, I fished down at our dock for a couple of hours on Saturday using minnows at 8-10' in 30 fow around hanging cedars. Kept 6 with the biggest at 1.15lb. Fished again for a couple of hours on Sunday. Kept 5 with the biggest at 1.21lb. All but 3 were loaded with eggs. Felt good to put some filets in the freezer again.
Good to hear you are back on em after all your high water problems Toon!
Was able to get back out on Eufaula this afternoon for a few hours. I will say after these last 2 floods the creek channels have changed somewhat and a few have really silted in. Pushed mud for about 1/4 mile trying to get into the deep holes in upper rock creek today. Finally made it and was rewarded. After hitting the deep holes which were full of shad suspended at 11'-13' and only catching small black species fish I headed further up the creek. Water temps started off at 46 and got up to 51 the further up I went. Found some willing fish in 13' of water but at 10' deep. Was up above the high lines 1/2 mile or so. From 2:30 to 4 it was fast and furious as the bite was so good I was down to using one Rod. Caught 40-45 and kept 20 from 1.25 to 1.62. Great day on the water even with a brisk north wind.......Ranger
Glad you found some eager to participate! How's the water clarity? Haven't been on E since before the last high water. Thinking its calmed down a little and worth a try.
Amen to that Ranger
I have recently moved into the Eufaula area and I am looking forward to fishing this lake for crappie. Been fishing for catfish as of recently but looking forward to getting the light tackle out. Hoping to find a few good holes as it has been a while.
They are starting to bite a little bit from the reports I've been hearing its from 12-40 a day. EB
Fished the last 2 days. Yesterday during the brutal steady north wind of 25mph. Was a tough bite and very limited where you could fish. The bite was very light and funky by just holding it or hitting the tail. Saw several small schools of crappie in the creeks above and beside the shad but had no takers. WT was 48
Today was able to fish anywhere I wanted with light winds and the bite with bright sunshine had moved the shad and fish out to deeper water. Shad were in 17'-22' and the bite was on top of the shad balls. Got on the water after 10am and off before 3pm ended with 21 good fish. Bite was hard today. WT was 53....Ranger
Fished from 4:30-6:30 yesterday evening caught 14 with 8 keepers. I was spider rigging minnows in 12-18ft. I'm trying out some new spider rigging rods. 14ft Outlaw rods. They have a little lighter tip then the tight line specials I've used for so many years. I think they will be good. EB
Fished on and off all this week on the dock. Slow some days, good on others. Fishing with jigs and will pick up some minnows next week. Never been bothered with mosquitoes on the dock, but the last two days they have really swarmed me. Been fishing this dock for several years and have never been bitten. Little devils have sure chewed on me lately.
Fished with client yesterday from 8am till around 3pm. We found a the fish still scattered and some relating to wood while others were just cruising above shad schools. Technique was double dipping crappie kickers in several colors with buster brown and black/chartreuse being the hot colors. Dow was from 12'-18' depending in shad. Wt got as high as 54 in the afternoon. Ended with 29 crappie 11" and bigger. Great Day With Joe n David......Ranger. Attachment 229519

If I knew you better I'd say change your deodorant, but since I don't! 😂
Fished today from 9:30-4:00 and kept 44. Fish were 10-13ft in 12-14ft. Caught them double dippin beaver bottom baits on Huckabee rods. Lots of people out catching fish today. WT was 54-62 EB
Ken Huckabee got me onto those beaver bottom baits. They have gotten some very nice fish for me (and he's a really nice guy).
Unfortunately, we didn't get to fish today; but, very fortunately, we got to drive to Tulsa and watch grand kids play baseball and basketball, followed by a family dinner.
Speaking of those rods. . . I don't have one. Which model is the best overall spinning model? I might just have to buy one
WT 54-62! Wow.
In case you missed winter. . . .it's almost March. . Lol
Well, after losing about 25 crappie to a pesky otter that has apparently found our dock (even wired my fish basket closed last weekend and he bend the sides of the lid down to steal my fish) which meant I had to clean anything in the basket at the end of each day, I finally decided I needed an otter-proof fish box. I found an old bed frame down in the shed that was destined for recycling -- after some cutting and welding, I built a fish box. Caught 4 nice ones on Saturday and they were still in the box on Sunday -- then added another 20 to the box on Sunday. Fishing with minnows (as always) at about 8-10' in 20 fow.

Nice design, Toon. I could use one of those to ward off a fisher (similar to a marten) that likes to steal our trout up in Montana.
Toon you are a talented scavenger- great looking fish box!
That looks great! I see you can stick a lock on it also. :highfive
Nice job Toon, those otters can be a pain!!
Fished yesterday and kept 31 biggest fish was 1.80. Double dippin Beaver bottom baits over break-lines just out of the creek channel in 14-21 ft. Fish are really spread out right now. It seems like the numbers being caught are between 20-40 keepers a day.
Varmithunter- yes sir I'm on the south end of the lake. EB
Awesome, I am getting sick of fishing brush, I want to move man! I think I am going to employ my spider rig and double dip mobile fish acquisition system. 4 rods in the rig out front using jigs tipped with minnows and a rod in each hand with jigs only. :juggle
