Going to be fishing Eufaula sometime soon, maybe tomorrow if I can get out, and trying to get it mapped out. If I'm not mistaken there is timber North of I-40. What is the best ramp to launch from up that a way? I'm in a smaller jon boat and can't be hot rodding from one side of the lake to another. I could but I would run out of gas once I got to the other side, lol.
I also plan on fishing the bridge just south of Eufuala city. I have found a ramp for that part of the lake.
I hear Gaines Creek is excellent. Should I just bypass everything else and drive the extra distance to fish it?
Any other help would be greatly appreciated, like coordinates to a brush pile or two, hint hint. ;) Won't be getting a good side/down imaging finder with GPS until next year and I'm kinda fishing blindly right now. I'm relying on my phone for GPS.
The water is muddy in the Highway 9/69/9A Triangle. The water clarity is better at Dam Site south. Launching from Broken Cove State Park there is a courtesy dock. It is protected from a south wind. Heading south/southeast from there to goose creek will provide you with Timber and brush piles. Hit and miss with out electronics to show them.
Yeah without electronics I have to stick to bridge pillars and standing timber. I have fished some brush piles at my local lake because they have the coordinates posted online.
I have some waypoints for brooken, remind me Monday and I'll send you some if you want ?
Roger that.
Buddy and I fished i40 bridge today. Let's just say it wasn't the best day but it wasn't a zero either. 16 in 4 hours vertical jigging bridge pillars. Tried the old cast and drag technique on some brush piles I found almond riprap. Hung up every time. Looks like I need to schedule a training appt with EB or Ranger in the future so I can get this figured out. Lol. Most fish caught at 10-14 ft. Biggest 1.2 lbs. black/pink. Green/chartreuse and black/chartreuse was best colors. Fished 7am-11am
Did you have some type of weed guard on the hook?
