Well, the Roosevelt Bridge is now closed! I don't believe this has ever happened before. This is the Hwy 70 bridge that pretty well cuts the lake in half. It's around 1/2 mile long, maybe a mile. Water is not over the bridge itself but, the road up to the bridge. To add insult to injury, Hwy 199 is also closed!
This pretty well stops anyone from going from east to west or west to east in Southern Ok. And, for a few hours yesterday, the 377 bridge was also closed so you couldn't even bypass the lake by going south into texas!
Weatherman said last night that the lake will rise to it's all time high before the weekend is over. If you stop and think about it, the inflow has been more than 100,000 cubic feet per second for weeks now!!!! That is a LOT of water! Last Friday, my son and I drove over the dam. It looked like the lake would go over the spillway, which it did a day later. It is now more than 4' over the spillway and rising! This is just incredible and we have heavy rains in the forecast thru Sunday morning!
I don't believe any ramps are open anywhere on the lake and I doubt there will be for a month or more possibly.
Stay tuned for further updates.
