Rocks and Brush
What time were you out there Chuck? I got on the water around 1pm and finally started catching them about 5, right when I was thinking about heading home!
Well, boat49, on Wednesday I was out there from 7:00 am until 6:00 pm. When I couldn't find the crappie in the shallow and the typical buoy marked brush I started drift fishing for catfish. While drifting I started seeing activity on the fishfinder in the deeper water. That's when I went and got just off the buoy marked area in the deeper water. I started catching them around 1:00. They were somewhat slower on minnows but they were pretty good on a jig. I'd cast it out and let it sink to the bottom and then start a medium speed retrieve. Hollower at me if your out there and see me. I'm in a blue and white trihull. Sometimes I have blue unbrella up for shade.
Will do Chuck. I'm in a white baycharger with black and red trim. I saw the Wildlife Dept. working on new fishing docks where I launch in Clear Bay. I spoke to one but didnt think to ask if they were putting any attractors around the new docks. I'm planning on being back out there Wed.
Went out Tuesday. The crappie seem to be really scattered. Couldn't find them bunched up. Tried 5 different spots. Caught a dozen or so. Only seven were over 10". Mostly small ones. Water temp stayed around 65 degrees. Nevertheless, had a great time on the lake.
well went to Tbird this morning and did ok i went up little river and ended up cautching like 4 crappie and 4 perch but i talked to a few people and they said that the crappie fishing was on like Donkey Kong and i seen one guy with a couple of crappie that would have went 12" easy it was one of them hump back crappie
My dad has been knocking out the crappie, him and his wife fish out of a blue xpress, with a mariner i think. Hit him up he has fished dirty bird for years, but he dont mess with computers much. He does exceptional on the saugeye as well. I dont know what area he fishes though. He fishes in the early am, he is off the lake by 9am usually.
Went out twice last week and caught a mess (probably 40-50) of dinks. Only 4 or 5 over 9". Wonder were the big ones went?
any one know why the temp at T-bird is ?
Been out of town since the 19th. Planning on going out tomorrow. Anybody been out in the past week? Any advice?
No fishing tips to share but noticed last weekend that the water level is getting very low, be careful of hazards.
Scott S, it definitely is low. No luck today. I fished minnows, jigs, and crank baits. Nothing, Could see lots of fish on the sonar but couldn't get them to bite.
I went out to Thunderbird twice this past week, Wednesday and Friday. Got skunked on Wed and caught 1 on Friday! Dang, those critters are being obstinate. I threw everything at them. They definitely are moving deeper. Can get them on the finder but they don't want to play catch.
The crappie are stacked up at the pump station.
how deep they running at the pump station chuck I won't make it out there anything soon but it's always nice to know
What side of the lake is the pumping station located?
They are 5'-10' deep. The pump station is on the North side of the Little River side of the lake between Denver Point and Fisherman's Point.
Went out on the 8th and on the 15th. The 8th was by myself and I brought home my limit. The 15th was with my son-in-law and the CEO of where he works. We brought home almost 100. Here's a picture of the 2 weekends combined. That's a 4' level at the top for perspective. Sure had fun.

Great catch Chuck. It sure is fun to catch them like that.
Odie
Unreal catch, are you going out again this Saturday?? Just amazing.
wow chuck thats awesome. did u catch all of those at the pump station? u mind tellin us how u were fishing?
I went out on T-Bird Saturday morning. The lake was like glass, and it was really cold! Sadly, I only managed to pull in one keeper.
hey guy i just wanted to share a bit of information with you all about a great deal that i have found. i went into Walls and they had some great deals on crappie jigs and high vis eagle claw line. a lot of the jig were priced at 79 cents for a three pack of the feather tailed and other plastic jigs. the high vis line was only a 1.99 for a 760 yard roll of 15lb. give it a look and see what you all think. i know that it is getting expensive to go fishing and crappie jigs at wal mart can seem to get a nice dent in the wallet. figured id share this information
I think Chuck was showing off his pet crappie from his Koi pond! haha :). I went out and fished the pumphouse and the bridges and only found 6-8 dinks!
man chuck thats a nice hull man.. if your going out there this friday maybe we will see each other
Way to go Chuck. That's the biggest mess of Crappies I've seen lately.
Glad you guys found some biting fish. Congrats.:)
Think I'm going out there in the morning launching from fishermans point if open. If you want a boat ride show up at around 8:00 a.m. going to see if they are biting.
Fisherman's Point is still closed. We had to launch at Denver Corner. Everything on the South and East sides is open. I think FP and the tornadoed marina are the only ones still closed.
hey grubby let us know how you do man
man we got pretty much skunked on the crappie saw a lot on the graph but couldn't get them to bite.
well found out fishermans point still closed. Launched at denver corner. Tried serveral spots several depths seen fish but none wanting a boat ride lol. They had lock jaw.
it has been way too nice to catch em.....try going monday and tuesday...bet you'll fill the boat!!!...lol
yeah your probably right i think that chuck must have put the scare into them...
Sorry guys, haven't been back on here for a while. They were stacked up at the pump station. But you had to pull right up next to it. Right under the sign that says don't get any closer than 75 ft. lol. Fishing with jigs. I went out yesterday afternoon. Went to the pump station about sun down and they were gone. I guess the weather change moved 'em out. Saw some guys at the cage by the damn catching a few.
has anyone been out lately? if so how did you do
I took the boat to Twin Bridges on Sat and didn't get a bite. Fished for 3 hours. Minnow AND jigs. OriginalCuz was with me and he got skunked too.
man that sounds like a rough day but i guess just getting out is a pretty good thing. did this past rain help that lake level any?
my buddy said he caught 3 big saugeye and 1 small saugeye but he said he threw them back he said he was fishing along the dam in about 15 fow.
