Thread: Good day in a hurricane at EF!!!

Yeah, the big blacks make the 10" whites look puny! Even the 10" blacks compared to the whites, the blacks are a lot thicker. We didn't stay in one place long. Couldn't with the wind. We mostly fished an area about 50 yards square, but we moved in and out of all the trees the whole time, hitting each tree as we went then hitting them again on each pass. If I could have my way, that's the way I'd fish all the time. I don't like to sit anywhere too long.

Larry, I was originally going to fish that bunch of trees you guys fished when we were getting out of the wind. I'm not sure how many good ones you got out of there, but I'm glad you got there first. We would have missed out on some good fish for sure. By the way, what do you guys have against minnows? I almost felt like a 10 year old pitching my float and minnow while you guys threw jigs. Both ways work though, I guess. And with the info you've given on here to a lot of local crappie fishermen about EF and Brookville, I don't think I'd call you guys old. Just well seasoned. Hope to see you all out on the lake again next week, assuming I can convince the wife I need to get out again. I've been out 4 of the last 5 weekends. Eventually I'm gonna have to spend some "quality time" with someone other than them EF crappies.

Hey bttmline, a lot of guys travel a heck of a lot further this time of year to chase crappie. If you get the urge to give EF a shot, I'm sure you won't have much trouble finding someone to take you out. Not sure you'd want to go with me though. Every time I try to show someone new to the lake how good a crappie lake EF is, the fish don't cooperate.

SpeckWick...you ask what I have against minnows? not a thing I am not the one sticking a hook thou those cute little guys. are you mad at them or just mean...

Yep, I don't think putting your hands in the bucket today would of made much of a difference... It was tough keeping anything dry today!

Good points. Ya know though, they make dip nets so you don't have to get your hands wet:D. I was kidding anyway. I actually like catching crappie on jigs a lot better than minnows. I usually find myself using minnows a good part of the time though, especially in the winter. I know a lot of guys who won't use live bait at all. I'm just not one of them. Guess I just don't want to get all those pretty color jigs all dirty. They look so nice decorating my tackle boxes. :D

You would have thunk that i would get this post on here as soon as i got home sunday 12/14 from bein out with speckwick, but i didnt. So here it is in about the same words as speck. The greatist day on eastfork that i have ever had. The weather was unreal and so were the fish. Just unbelieveable for that kind of day. Yeah we kept a few but put the big dawgs back. Man those were some big crappies. It was a great mornin of fishin and good to see some of the guys out doin the same. Good to hear that yall ended up finding them. Well good fishin yall.

You maybe right Fish?.. Speck & Ohio-boy are young! they look at a well seasoned man with a beard they may see a turkey..did Speck say he likes decorating his tackle box... w/pretty & dirty jigs??? and Ohio-Boy,could not post because he had to warm those cold & wet hands...oh well they will be OK when they get a little more seasoned.

I got 2 girls at home one 9 months and one 8 years old. I dont get to the computer as much as i would like after fishin. sorry yall that i was late on gettin my post up. I know shame on me. Hey larry thanks for the brand names of the gloves. We work out in the cold and rain so if i work in it i can definitly fish in it. Good fishin yall.
