I will have maps as well and it looks like were at seven so far.

I was just notified today that we are working Saturday the 24th....it is a mandatory full production day.
So, you guys can have a nice breakfast as I work, and we can do another in March!
If you all still meet on the 24th let me know and I'll get with Downtime to distribute a couple door prizes.
Fished Thursday, Friday, and Sunday evening....rewarded with 21 Gators, 15 keepers from 18 to 24 inches. The 6 dinks were all at 12 inches.
The 4" Perch Easy Shiner Keitech with a Chartreuse "Crappiedreamer" jig head caught the 23 and 24 incher....all the rest were on Crappiedreamer pink heads and White French Pearl 3" easy shiners with a Chartreuse nibble.
They are found in feeding flats surrounded by deep water on at least 2 sides....so far the only technique that has worked for me is to cast out, let it lay on the bottom, and then slowly lift it off the bottom, and left it fall. All of them have hit it on the fall! And they are fighting all the way In!
My guess is the shad are shocked from ice off and warm water flooding in...they are under stress and the Walleye are picking off easy ones trying to warm in the shallows. Every fish was just packed with bellies full of shad. The 23" had a couple fresh 6" Perch in it's belly, with half digested shad.
Pretty good for a dead Walleye lake! Lol
I won't be able to make this one Lynn and I will be in Louisville Ky at the 2018 Catfish Conference you all have a great time I know I'll be in heaven at this one...Doc
Sounds like breakfast is still on, for those of us that aren't working Saturday ...
Brent, enjoy your new 'toy' ...
I now have the World's fastest fishing vehicle...It should be able to get me to CJ in about 6 minutes!lol
Looking forward to seeing cjpolecat, Lowellhturner, jab, CrappieDreamer on Saturday,if anyone else is going like this page so I can get you in the count and be sure to have at least one spring crappie tip to share as well !!!
Please give a report how you do and the conditions of the lake. Good luck fishing
Enjoyed meeting with some of the "Friends", passed the maps off to soon be in Sir Intimidators capable hands, hopefully to be put to good use. And Thank You Brent for the gift. Still sincerely want someone to get Fritz out and to finally get him a well earned walleye this year, he selflessly did our project so much good for so many years yet this "Friend" has yet to ever catch his 1st walleye ever. Sincerely wish someone would change that, if anyone ever earned it you undoubtedly did. We cannot ever repay what you quietly but diligently did for so long, personally am humbly proud to call you a "Friend"...
Regretted not being able to chat today at breakfast, hopefully in a couple more weeks!
I also Hope the new colors make your 2018 VERY PRODUCTIVE!
Even with all the rain, the Gators are gorging...and the water temp is perfect for their "Happy Time" before spawn.
High water will do nothing to hurt Gator hunting...certain areas the Gators use now are still pretty clear, even when other lakes are a muddy mess.
Happy Hunting!
Hey, Thanks Lowell I didn't know anyone was watching. I did I because I believe we were doing "right' by the lake. I personally feel it is my lake. I spend as much time as can down there, hopefully will end up there. I had to sell he boat (Little Suzie) because I couldn't handle her alone, and if I fell overboard, I couldn't get back in the boat. I have been known to trip and fall over a shadow now and then. OLD AGE IS REALY CRUEL Thanks again Friend for he recignaion (phonics speling )..
GOOD FISHIG TO ALL
CJPlecat
You have more than earned it, Fritz ! Know that many had a significant hand in this effort, yours was simply critical and decisive many times. You are again welcome "Friend"...
After our meet & greet then a mad rush to Lake Loramie to help my nephew on their cottage (till late)here are a few pics from out breakfast. Thanks to those who made it and big one to Intimidater for the door prizes to all that came as I plan on getting my boat out today or tomorrow and try a few out at mother cj.
Mother CJ is about 2 ft below summer pool. She is not that muddy, and the Gators are biting on bright colors, and Bright Crappiedreamer jig heads! lol
Total is 26 so far this year, with 20 Keepers.
1 kayaker out around the outside of the Marina, and 1 Bass boat out that was fishing/jigging around the Courtesy dock(???).
They are still dumping water at a reduced rate.
At my house we had 2.5 inches on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. And almost 4 last night. Last week North of CJ had more than us, yesterday we were blasted.
DON'T FORGET TO GET YOUR NEW FISHING LICENSE THIS WEEK!
A new product review! Especially For bank fishermen....
One of my best friends, great fisherman, and my soon to be retired UPS driver, bought an "E-Bobber".
It is a portable fish finder, depth, temp, bottom structure sonar unit, that looks like a larger bobber. It displays from an app on you phone.
He has a pole dedicated for it, you cast it out (he uses braid also), and it activates in water....it works just like units on boats.
Rob loves this thing, he's been using it in ponds and lakes....he showed me some video etc, and it looks sweet. He got his a Bass Pro about 100 bucks.
Probably my next fishing purchase.
Got boat out of storage yesterday and hit the water at 12:15pm today and with a water temp 44.5 to 46.4 and with a strong wind it was a little tough but still a good day on the water even though a count of fish 1 and me 0 the battle may have been lost but the war has just begun. :)
Hopefully next time the score will at least be reversed or bettered !
Still a little cool for CJ Crappie...at these temps they are still basically in ice fishing mode...they are very slow, and the bait needs to be put on their nose. They start to get a little feisty at 50 degrees at depth. It won't be long.....
Just throwing this out ,March meet and greet 17th or the 24th at Springfield Cracker Barrel ?
I'm in, if we don't work!
The 24th at Springfield CB at 8am all are welcome !!!!!!
They cancelled Saturday, so I will be at Cracker barrel with my fishing brothers!lol
Another nice breakfast with the boys...hopefully it warms and we can finally fish, so we have stories for the next one!lol
Enjoyed the breakfast with Intimidator, jab , Fishabyte and Mrs.Fishbyte. Looks like the water will be warming up this next week so we can all have some fish stories soon, good luck to all !!!!!!
My apologies 'Friends' was alas required to work... Sincerely hope the maps may be of some soon future use to do the " Forever" drop. Time will tell...
If a fish attractor is gently and lovingly lowered into the waters of a reservoir near me and then released to go to its final resting place seen only by GPS enabled sonar will anyone hear it ? Not if it's done in the wee hours of a rainy early morning with few to no witnesses...
Went out yesterday for a couple hours....one 20 inch Gator and 12 nice 11+ inch crappie were harvested. 2 boats out, no one else seen!
With over 4 inches of rain you can see the creek flows and currents.
Water is green but still clear for as much rain as we've had. Chartreuse and white worked in the depths with the sun being out.
is the water in CJ still in good shape. I fish from the bank and was looking for a place to go after crappie this weekend cant think of any other lakes that might look decent. any advice would appreciate.
Thanks for the information. Going to check out rocky fork this evening then decide where to go.
I thought I heard spliching sounds (phonic spelling) last night too, but I thought you might have dropped your CELL PHONE AGAIN.
cjp
Fritz, get your gear ready, you have a wallygator to wrestle shortly...
Went out this morning from 7:30am until 10:30am...I was shocked!!!
I'll save my COE rant for those that care, but those f*&%$#@×+#$%^, dropped the lake from Summer pool back again to Winter pool.
The water was just rolling out still from the lower gates. I'm sorry but there's no forecast for any hurricanes or 40 days and 40 nights of rain. Idiots!
We worked hard to build this fishery and those idiots don't even have the courtesy to use the top gates!
Ended up going back to my early spring pattern, and went to my underwater island. Ended up with 13 legal Walleye, and 5 Nice Crappie.
I took 6 twenty inchers, and put 2 smaller and the biggest ones back...one was a 27 that went back in.
All has big shad in their bellies...but no eggs!
So far they like that New 4 inch Perch with Jeff's pink head.
Hopefully the COE decides to put the plug in for the WB spawn....IDIOTS!
As the former COE Manager previously mentioned " The CJ Brown Reservoir is primarily a flood control impoundment 1st and foremost..." Agree with you completely Brent but there it is...
