Congrats to you retired guys!
I checked out the lake this afternoon. Only two boats on the water. North lane of MBR had been opened by someone. Ice looks like it was around 1" thick. Only present in cove and near ramps. Lake was still nearly completely open water. Some ice present around tower and West Bank.
Gulls had gathered in middle of the south end of the lake. It looked like many were diving from the air and feeding.
Jeff and I headed out today to boat fish in Jan.
I got up late, Jeff blew a brake line after putting the boat in...I went to get brake fluid.
And then we got to fish about 11:30am.
Water temp was 37 degrees....we know where every fish in the lake is...we saw things that are just amazing.
We saw schools of fish 10-15 FEET THICK and hundreds of yards long.
Jeff managed 9 decent Crappie, his first of the year....and I managed to pull a huge stump off the bottom on 20lb braid...that's how good the Smackdown braid is.
We just needed to bobber fish but I just can't force myself to do it!:)
Fish are not moving and barely biting.
Fog Moved in and we left when Jeff's wife came from Piqua with the other tow vehicle.
We had fun and good laughs....I'm going to take a shower now and get the smell off!:)
First time ever that I have boat fished in January! 😆 I love El Nino.
I hear tomato juice is supposed to get rid of that type of smell !!!
