Default Intersting Day at East Fork

Took my Dad out fishing today and we caught tons of fish. I bet we ended up with over 150 fish... 75 or more were keepers.. and lots of 10 to 11.5 inch fish. I spent too much time bass fishing this spring, but what happened? The shallow bite never happened for me. I know there were a couple days were they were stacked in the river but, this is the worst I have seen it in 10 years for the fun shallow bite and big fish.

We caught almost all our fish in 8-13 FOW. Fishing about 4-6' deep. 75% whites and 25% blacks. Lots of whites were full of eggs. None of the blacks had eggs. All on jigs... Water temp 79 degrees! Dang

Crappie Max... I caught all these where I told you I was going! It was good seeing you there.

Any ways... awesome day on the water with my Dad. Now back to "Green Carp" as Crazed likes to say... HAHa

    Good seeing you too.
Sounds like you guys got on them pretty good.
We ended pretty decent too and we kept about a dozen for the skillet. My friend I was with had a decent time. He's been talking about getting together and hitting the lake once in a while for the past 8/9 years and something always came up. Considering it was his 1st time ever trying to catch fish on jigs, I was impressed. If I can just get him to set the hook a little instead of just reeling a little faster he'll do just fine.
That area you guys headed too is a good section. My wife was talking about going out for a few hours this evening if the weather holds out. If we go, I'll probably head over that way.

Some areas had shallow fish but big fish were deeper. We didn't keep any fish... Just got out to have some fun... I did see some people with baskets full of short fish.... Sigh.. I didn't say anything because it won't hurt the lake...but why? Lol

Good luck jeep guy.. Lake Erie is a blast!

Crappiax, did you go fishing again?

Yeah got on the water abut 5:00 yesterday evening. We didn't kill them but we did okay. Fished with my wife so it was a little slower going.
We fished the same area as you did. Caught everything swimming jigs. My wife did get one right at 13". When we 1st started everything we caught were blacks, none with eggs. Later everything was whites and whites still had eggs. I did find on little big momma spot about 1/2 the size of my boat that I bet I caught a dozen good fish on. I never could figure out what was holding them.

James good luck up north. The guys I was going to go with backed out on me and the only weekend I have open if Memorial day...it's not looking good.

Went yesterday (Tuesday, 5/13) with my dad. We caught about 45 in 6 hours. Not great fishing but good.
Some were shallow but most of them - the larger ones - were 5-6 feet deep in 10-12 feet of water.

It was a very windy day and tough to fish the places we wanted. A few of the smaller crappie had their colors and were shallow but most we caught seemed like they had already spawned.
