There was a kill in 2012, I believe. Lots of dead crappie, as well as other fish. The shorelines were lined with buzzards, and it stunk to high heaven.

I can't remember what the State said caused the kill??? Was that from Algae and lack of oxygen?

Yep and yep, along with much lower water levels that year. I had to fish a crappie tournament at the time--thought I was seeing a very rocky shoreline until I got closer and saw hundreds of buzzards. They would all be on the downwind side, waiting for the dead fish to wash ashore. The lake was 5-6 feet below normal pool, it was late summer, and the water had dead fish floating everywhere. The further you went away from the dam, the worse it got. At the first creek, couldn't go any further because of the smell. Never been on a lake in that condition before, and hope to never to see another one. The tournament was about 2 weeks later, and it was a bit better by then. Still alot of buzzards, but they'd mostly done their job and the smell wasn't as bad.
fish just started to hit before cold snap came thru and fish moved out from 2 to 8ft. water by the weekend it will be on again....
