CJ WATER TEMPS AND FISHING THREAD!

Hey everyone, it's been a long time since I've stopped in here. This year has definitely snuck up on me! I made it to the lake this past weekend to pull the duck blind out (long overdue!) I can't wait to get back out with my fishing rods snagging a couple slabs.

Fished from 5-7pm....water is thick tea colored....and up!
Lake has alot of new water, I got 2 inches at my house and they had more North of the lake all day.
Bite was weird...no color stood out...caught 3-4 fish on every color, every time the sun went in, the bite stopped and color changed. Finally got a couple solid twelves and a 15 WB that almost took the pole out of my hand.
Another fun night....a couple more days and it's on like Donkey Kong! 😆

Hope to be on CJ in the next few days as the 4200 mile trip from Ohio to Fla to Biloxi,Ms to New Orleans to Lake D'Arbonne,La(crappie fishing) was a little tiring to say the least pulling a 28ft fifth wheel.First pic is some of my crappie caught on lake D'Arbonne, then Mr.Dodwin from Duck Commander (winning team) and third is one of the coolers that was donated to Charity fish fry for the Wounded Warriors. Great time to say the least !!!

Oh go ahead and give her a proper burial at CJ, let her enjoy the lake for eternity....there are already 2 sunken boats that Doc has found in there, maybe we can start a sunken boat reef also! lol

More Weird Weather, leading to a screwed up spawn again....Went out last night to fish with Guppy, met up and talked with Cajun Willie and Daniel, and missed JAB and Doc!

Water temp is 78 degrees in the North, 76 degrees in the Marina and Middle, 72-74 in the South....and still gaining heat!
Lake has turned over and is DARK, with all kinds of junk everywhere. Insects are hatching out of the water because it is so warm!

Bite is all over the place with all colors catching fish at different times, no patterns, everything either works or it doesn't, then it does again!
First they crush the bait, next time they barely nibble, then hit it 2-3 times, then 1 time and done, then nothing...change colors, and it starts all over, or you don't get a bite, use that same color later and they bite....THEY ARE AS CONFUSED AS WE ARE!
I think the color of the water and the sun going in and out is playing a big part in messing colors up!

With the lake gaining temp for the next 5 days, it could be in the mid 80's soon...people are already skiing/swimming...so if they haven't spawned, it doesn't look good....the high water temps trigger a hormone to abort the eggs, to save the fish's life and not contribute to the stress....Normally at 70 degrees the females are moving back deep anyway!
What a mess!lol
