I like the longer rods for trolling, vertical jigging, and slip floats. For casting jigs I like 5.5-7'.

Yeah, for crappie it's just a lighter version. Everyone has their favorite type or style. Slip floats allow you to fish from 1' to 20' or more deep. Anything much over a few feet deep becomes more difficult with a fixed float. Once you find some active fish it becomes easier to maintain the proper debth. minnows are the more popular bait for slip floats but jigs can also be used.Quote:
