    Default Newbie Ohio Crappie fisherman

Hello all!! I recently got back into fishing after several years away from the sport. I was fortunate to find a 13' aluminum boat with a 9.9HP Johnson motor, trailer and all the accessories for a really great price. The previous owner wanted elec. start so he had his old boat priced to sell. I live in Harrison County and have several lakes within a short driving distance such as Tappan, Leesville, Piedmont and Clendening. All are great fishing lakes and with the 9.9HP motor I can fish them all.

I'm really interested in crappie fishing so any good advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

we don't get much talk about our area on here, but a couple guys are very helpful with tips from their home lakes. Make sure you search around the rest of the site for more ideas.

I'm headed to Clendening tomorrow to prefish for a tourney next weekend, so hope I have something I can share with ya.

Sounds good!! I'm hoping to get the boat out this weekend as I'm off Sat, Sun and Mon. Hopefully I'll have some luck.

I'll be at Clendening either sat or sunday. maybe both, but thinking Salt Fork one of the days. I drive a white Durango......pulling a white 15 ft Sea Nymph. I'll launch at the Tipp end.

today I caught around 30-35 crappie several bass(not on purpose) and a bunch of gills.....all on 2 inch plastics. Some casting some vertical some under float. they were everywhere really in tight to trees, shallow and deeper. Don't know exact depths cuz the finder is funky....hoping the PC connect cords that came while I was out fix it with the software update. I'll try to post more and better info for ya asap.

Thanks for all the info, rockbass!! I drive a Silver Ford Escape and I'll be fishing out of a 13ft. Sears aluminum boat with a 9.9HP Johnson motor. I'm hoping the weather will cooperate enough so I can get it on the water this weekend.

Of those lakes, I used to like Tappan for white crappie and Piedmont for blacks--but that's been 15 years ago!
