    Default Brookville Lake

We don't have the most sophisticated sonar unit but does anyone know the depth of the thermocline this time of year? Does it very in Brookville since the lake is fed by various creeks? Insight will help. Thanks

normally runs 15-20fow give or take, but havent been out in deep enough water all summer to see one this year.
Turn your sensitivity all the way up on your unit, chances are it will show up.
might show up as a solid black line, might show up as a small line of interference, but even with some old school stuff you can normally see it.

Last time down (2nd week of June) we pounded the shore bring lures back to boat and hardly got a hit. So my buddy started fishing out in front of the boat and opposite side and started catching fish (smallies and channels but no walleye, great Long John Silver's for dinner rather than a good meal!). Water temps were in upper 70's so we thought fish were in deeper/colder water. Watched an infisher man show where they were talking about locating walleyes post spawn in cooler water. Got to find the thermocline first and they used an ice fishing meter with a temp sensor. We don't have that, just a Lowrance X-5. It hardly marks schools of bait fish let alone water temps below the sensor.

Thanks for the help Hillbilly. Will let you know if this thermocline stuff works in our favor and we don't end up eating McDonald's fillet-o-carp (or crap, same thing).

Had about 15 good crappie last week and all came about 15' to 18' deep. Hillbilly is right about thermocline depth also find it fish a little above it. Hit the standing trees in deep water and don't be afraid to go deep and stay right on the tree. Minnies and jig head was workin.

also, if your using minnows, drop a line down starting at about where you figure the thermocline is, and leave him there for a minute or so then bring him up. Once he goes below the thermocline, he's toast, once you start pulling up dead minnows, youve found it.

Thanks for the translation T-bone, i owe ya one now...

Default Last two weeks @ Brookville

Fished Brookville last couple of weeks. It has been a good bite each time I've been out, no trouble getting limits of crappie 9.5 - 12" crappie. Been picking up a few bonus fish too. Good luck,
