    Default Ef 6/17

Got out last night for the first nightstalk of the year. Action was hot as I ran out of 5 dozen minnows by midnight. In 3 hours of fishing I caught around 75 black crappie with 5 going around 10''. I tried some of the new Reel Lites and they brought a ton of baitfish in within 10-15 minutes. I moved spots 3 times trying to get away from those dink blacks but I think they were following me. I tried spots from 12' to 28' and the fish were stacked everywhere. It was a fun night but never caught a white crappie. It seems those blacks haven't grown at all since last year while the whites have put on around 2''. If you haven't tried nightstalking, you should. No hot sun to worry about, no jetskis, and no wind.

Most of the time I do, but last night I didn't. There was no wind so I just hovered over the area with the lights and used the trolling motor to keep me there.

Yeah, the 100 LED green light from Reel Lites. I used 1 light last night and it worked well, but if you had 2 it would be better.

Good job Brian, I was out today. It was the same conditions as you had no wind, no crowds. When I left at 4:00 there were only 3 other trailers in the Bantam lot. I had ton of small blacks too. Way different than the last few times.
I don't know what I was doing wrong but I must have lost 35 or 40 fish today and like last week I caught a variety pack. Even had another carp.

Nice report EFSlabs, but wish the fish were better size. Glad we decided to stay dry today although I'd prefer fishing in the rain than a day at work!

No kidding, the size was as bad as it was 2 years ago, most of the blacks were 7-8''. I used my minnow net after I ran out of minnows and netted about 50 shad in one scoop around the light. All the shad were around an inch and those blacks hammered them. It figures, my dad wanted some fresh fish for father's day and I only got 5 keepers, when last weekend we practiced C&R and had probably 50+ keepers. Just got my last bag of fish out of the freezer....

Also, as a heads up you guys might want to watch keeping your cars at the Macedonia ramp at night. I saw a few cars driving in the parking lot around midnight as I was pulling up to the dock. I snuck up into the lot and hit my lock button on my SUV (makes the lights turn on) and saw some kids running through the parking lot and jumped into 2 cars and took off once they saw me. Not sure what they were up to, but makes me want to start carrying.
