Default Acton lake May 11, 2011

4 hours of fishing netted 44 crappie caught but only 4 of legal size. Also caught one 13" bass. All were caught between the lodge and the spillway. The water temperature was 63 today.

had 15 or so eaters, Lord only knows how many 6"s though, 8 hour day.
Found some good fish, found a few dark males, but most showed no signs of spawn.
Some nice gills too. Bass were very few and small.
I fished my way to the lodge, and called it quits.

yep went Friday - drift fished from the dam to the lodge...

It was pull fish up, look at the small one or two crappie on the hooks, and then
shake the line to free them up .... place back down into the water, repeat.

In an 1.5. hrs drifting the one small section of the lake I probably caught at least
75 fish, with only one keeper.

    Stay safe all.

LOL, i tried some trolling/drifting on firday as well, thinkin i could get away from the swarm...nope.
I did catch more 8-9" fish that day than before, but still no comparison to the 100+ little guys.
I left with the rain. water cops and sherriff boats were practising manuvers and boat skills that day...needless to say there was a whole lotta wake for a 10hp lake.

Same here. Fished the lodge side from the dam to the ramp on friday with only one crappie just bumping legal. One of three bass bumped legal. I agree on the wake action and disregard of 10 hp limit. Yes, I got safety checked and inspected also. The good news is brookville is only 7.6 feet over summer pool and still dropping.

i understand the lakes they usually do those things are unsafe right now, but i swear everywhere i set up to troll that big boat would come by and start doing "man overboard" rescue drills(AKA wide open, do a big bat turn and run back to a life vest).
I was never checked, and they had plenty of chances.

I do not remember we talked to several boaters. I was in a 175 Tracker Crappie model with two people in the boat. I normally wear a straw hat.

P.s the fishing died with the cold front, was out for a little spell last night in the rain with mike bass fishing(purty slow too), and only caught 3 crappie in a spot where i had caught 20+. 1 fish was a keeper how ever.
