We fished for three hours, from 7:30 till 10:30 pm. We were throwing back 23" stripers and 20" specks because we didn't want to clean that many fish.
All fish loved a 4" smoke colored Trout Killer.

    Not crappie...the dark side.

Nice bunch of fish. I like the Lucha Libre mask, helps keep the stalkers away!

Comes in handy for late night/early am parking lots....who is robbing who? It is hard to mess with a person wearing a mask like that. I don't care who you are.

Great fish! Where did you go? I would love to get into some "Lines and Spots" myself just not sure where to go and how to (what to use, etc.) fish for 'em yet. I am hoping to change that soon though.

    Hey Brian,

The Elizabeth River is loaded with them. I like Trout Killers, Fin-S and Storm lures. Any launch will do. I fish at night around lighted cover.

I always found that night fishing fit the family life best. I could fish while everybody else slept--night fishing rarely conflicted with family activities. You just have to stay awake the next day, during family fun. That is the hard part.

Most of the time when I throw those lures, I am dragging them very slowly along the bottom, trying to feel each bump on the bottom.

Sounds good to me. I will be trying this weekend I think. How do you fish the lights? Just cast into it let it sink and slowly reel in?

    Hey Brian,

    1. Remember to get the appropriate SW license. I always get the boat license, so I can take others.

    2. The light is good, however make sure to fish "the vicinity" of lighted cover. Sometimes, I find them schooled up a short distance from the cover and lights.

    3. Moving water is crucial for the bite. If it is dead low/high, put the pole down, lay down in the bottom of the boat and take a nap for about an hour.

    4. I mostly fish the bottom. Let the lure sink completely (watch line), and reel it in very s-l-o-w-ly. No jerks, just a constant slow reel. If I see fish busting surface, then I fish high in the water column by not counting down, and reeling fast.

    Good luck,
    Dean
