Odd funeral procession

Today at the cemetery just down the road. Oddly 2 hearses followed by a man with a dog on a leash followed by a procession of at least 100 men walking in a single file behind.
I was curious so I went over and asked the man who was in the hearses.
First one is my wife. She was attacked by my dog here and was killed.
What about the other?
My mother in law came to my wife's defense and was killed too.
Wow! I said!! Can I borrow that dog?

He said......Get in line.
