Do you leave yours on boat when traveling long distance ? Never took the lower end stuff off but no experience with better units .

I leave mine on but turn it sideways so that it won't catch as much wind. I leave my cover on over the screen with a bungee cord around it in case a rock flies up it won't hit the screen. And likewise remove it if staying overnight or sometimes if we stop to eat and I can't sit near a window were I can watch my boat. Wouldn't take long for someone to steal it. I wouldn't think a typical thief would know what they cost, but they'll steal anything they think they can get $10 for at a pawn shop.

I take mine off as soon as I leave the lake! To many sticky finger folks to leave them on! It only takes them a minute to snatch it if you walk in a gas station or something!

I take mine off soon as I get off the water and it stays off till the next trip at the launch. I consider that a pound of prevention.

Off the water in the padded case they go. To much stuff on roads flipping up that could cause damage plus not as much chance of getting stole when you need to stop for eats or fuel. They cost to much these days to not take precautions with them IMO
