Planers especially stink when the dinks are biting heavy. 4 poles go off and they're all dinks. Takes 4 times longer to get them in and back out. They do work well when the bigger fish are spooky and moving away from the boat tho.Quote:

U will like them. Bnm pst is what your looking for. I know a fella that fishes out of 18 ft boat in a wheel chair and he does just fine with those big poles. He runs same spread u mentioned
Seen Kent Driscoll using them on tv which gave me the idea. They seemed to handle them pretty well. The two 20ft rods caught the majority of fish. I will probably try them and report back.

I use all 12's when pulling 6 cranks is what I do unless it's a tournament that allows 8 poles. I have 2 straight out the back, 2 out the sides, and 2 that split the difference in the middle. Puts each rod tip about 5' apart and eliminated me trying to cast a crank in the middle. If the middle pole catches, I reel fish in, slide outside pole down one spot and recast crankbait out the side.
When using 8 poles, the 2 extra are 16's to space them out and they do require more work than fishing 6 of the same length.
I never got the whole different rod length scenario unless you are pulling all rods from the side and as wide of an area as you have to work with a pontoon, you should be able to put a 8 of the same length across the back.... but that just my thoughts.. I have never owned a pontoon.
