It's bad when you call and get a date from the guy in charge, then have him call you back hours later with different info. After checking the Feb events calendar the Habitat Day date is changed to Feb 11 and 12th. Other info will be posted on their website. I'll work Nader on the 11th, don't know if I want to travel and another workout on the 12th.Quote:

I got a little different info in the letter. First meet won't be at the office or field house. It will be at the LaCook area at 8 am. A light breakfast will be serviced. A map was included. From hwy 7 turn east on county road 74 ( between Bryant & Torrance). Cross over railroad track, go over hill. At the bottom of hill turn right onto gravel road with cattle gap. Follow road until it ends.
Are habitat days the only time that you can put stake beds on COE lakes?
No, call the lake office and tell them what you want to do. They may have material waiting. Habitat days do draw a crowd along with food and prizes for your work.Quote:

Post a habitat day for what lake and area with material collected. Our last work day we had 6 cutting and filling trailers. Extra material was added and some 20 people showed up to build stake beds.
Our plans are to bring my Ranger and work the Grenada habitat day. Would love to make the Enid habitat day also but we have a benefit auction that date to raise funds for local families in need of assistance. We donated different items to the auction including a guided fishing trip on Grenada with John Harrison. We were asked to be present to answer questions about items that we donated, so Enid work day is out for us.
Does the COE have regulations on materials that can be used? If I understand right on work days materials are provided but if we work on our own we would provide the materials. We could buy tomato stakes at one time from a local saw mill, I'm not sure they if they still sell them, I assume those are legal because we see stake beds with them on all of the COE lakes. Is it legal to put out cedar trees and and anchor them to lake bottom with a wooden stake and rope? I want to put structure out at Enid also but not sure on COE regulations.
Who is best to call with the COE to answer questions? Are the regulations for habitat posted on a COE website?

Last year at Nader we worked both sides of the bridge at North Graysport. Water was so low we could almost ride to the bridge.
They provided the wood stakes. I think we used almost 6 large bundles. Others were getting a good many and going to other locations.
The COE lake website may give you some good info about habitat they want to use and material to tie and anchor with. From the lake map I called the office and talked to the person in charge of habitat. For Sardis it was to find out the date. For Butla it was to find out where to dump these boo tops. Both told me if we want to plan a habitat day among ourselves let him know. They do like to keep up with what's going into the lake and where. If they can break free they will help. If we need material they may have some on hand or will get what they can.
Since Nader and Sardis are the same weekend I don't know if I'll be up to working both days, the 11 and 12th. I'd like to plan on the 25th at Sardis for all that are interested. Decide what location we want to work. Call the COE for a few bundles of stakes and ties to be dropped off there.
