I have a way out there story to tell yall about them bees. When I was a child,my grand parents lived on the south side of Sardis dam across from Wallace's Bait Shop in a fish camp. Well after quite a few years of catfishing Sardis with net and lines all the folks in the camp decided they was going to Texas to try catfishing commercially out there. The fishing in Sardis had dropped off so much they couldn't make a living. On a visit back from Texas an old guy they called Wild Bill had a queen bee land on the back of his old Ford Fairlane and he drove them bees from Texas all the way back to Sardis Lake.He tried to drive through tall grass, bushes, and rough roads, but them bees wasn't leaving.Getting gas was a whoop! Back then the gas cap was behind the license plate in the center of the car and the swarm was on the back left quarter panel. I think he invented self- service gas cause no gas attendant was gonna pump gas for him.He finally got back home and he built some bee boxes and somehow got the queen off that car and put her in a hive box and the next thing you know he give my grand maw a jar of fresh honey with part of the cone in it. That honey was so good on them big cat head biscuits she used to make with homemade butter.YUM YUM!Another reason we need to save them bees. They pollinate just about every flowering plant there is and without them the world would die.Pretty crazy huh!
