It will probably be just fine......mount it even with boat bottom on the front of the ducer and drop the back down about a quarter inch.

Hey all, this prolly should go in the electronics forum, but it ain't that critical. If it's moved, no problem.
I mounted my Helix 7 si/di transducer to the transom of my boat 1652. The manual calls for a minimum of 15" clearance on either side of the motor / prop. I used pvc board and marine epoxy to mount the ducer board, didn't care for any holes in the boat. I was only able to achieve 12" clearance from motor to ducer. I wanted it center in between of two strakes, without having to go to the extreme outside corner of the boat (if you seen the scuffs there you would know why) plus to close to rear straps. My question is, will the transducer be receiving interference this close to the prop with si?
I was gonna field test it this morning, but got stuck working instead (on a Thursday?)... Lol. Any input is appreciated... thanks

It will probably be ok but the only way to know for sure is to get it out on the water. As long as there is nothing to the right or left of the transducer to interfere with it seeing to the right and left. Other than that you will need to adjust the transducer to where you will be seeing the best pictures on your sonar.![]()

You might have to trim your motor up a little for si to read on the other side....some do and some dont.....Mine works fine with motor in neutal position

Thanks guys, figured I be ok.. just worried a bit. Wanted to do a field test and if any adjustments needed to be made I could do it before some serious fishing.. and 10-4 on the trimming up G, I thought of that as well. Just don't know how it will effect my plane.. thanks again, my worries are at ease. Got a great bunch of folks here, so figured I would pick ya'lls brain a bit.. I will take my tools just in case to the lake, another benefit to using a mounting board, I can adjust a bit :-)
Don't really have to worry about plane...It will read your depth fine at plane....you best side image viewing is gonna be at three or four mph.
