How many horsepower....

Am thinking about getting a tractor for reworking my yard...going to move several loads of dirt.. Leveling, and filling in. Thinking about buying a new one using it maybe a year, then reselling...how small a Kubota can I run a bucket, and box blade with

I would do just opposite. Buy a year old and let someone else take that initial depreciation hit. If you're a good haggler, you might could resell and not lose anything.

I would just hire someone to do it and be done with it. Would be a lot cheaper and quicker. I got a phone number if you need it.

You can get a small compact tractor with 4wd and front end loader that will do what you want. That being said, the cost can be almost as much as larger tractors. Throw in a few implements and you've got a fairly large investment for short term use. To me the only way to justify the expense is if you have long term plans for it. Like G said, it'd be much less expensive to hire it done for only a job or two.

Kubota if that's the choice. Keep looking around. The same horsepower with 4wd is twice the tractor. The little mahindra's are great too.

My 55 hp John Deere can do all of the above and more. Have heard nothing but good things from Kubota also. I wouldn't consider buying anything without 4wd and a front loader. Think about where you going with it. Duck hole=mud bog = stuck tractor. Front loaders can assist in raising deer stands and all other types of projects. Pallet forks on the front end can make moving logs and brush piles simple. I often am by myself when working and find the front loader my most valuable tool.

Well, finally pulled the trigger on a little Kubota. M5400, 58 hp. Only 1000 hours. Attachment 239227
