Default Minn Kota maxxum 80 hand control help

Stopped working on top two speeds 75 and 100. Works find first 3 speeds. Any ideas? Or anyone that works on them close? Very aggravating. Can't fish without high speeds. Boat too big. Thanks for any help. Already took cover off and don't see any issues. Hotline guy said could be in bottom on unit. Don't know. Makes no sense to me. Help.

Probably speed control switch. Pull hear apart and check wiring connections where they plug into switch. Bet you find them burnt and loose. Look up a diagram before you pull it apart so you kinda see what you are working with. Usually has a spring steel plate with a couple bends in it that fits between top and bottom half of head unit with a shaft hole through it. It is the spring for your hand control as you rotate it to keep it where it is set. Behind that will be your switch.

I took the top plastic cover off and all looks brand new. First thing inside connected to handle is a blue box which I figured was a speed control but it looks good. All the wires are fine. I'm not the most technical or mechanical minded. ☹️

Let me ask you this, I was thinking 5 speed forward 3 reverse. Is this 123 speed or a true variable speed? Was there any kind of electronic board besides the blue box?

Is it by any chance tripping the breaker at the highest speeds?

Did manage these today despite the trolling motor issues. Couple are real hogs. Make the others look small.
