So glad to see this topic come up. I have the MinnKota Riptide copilot but have not bought the extra equipment to make it a ipilot and was wondering if the $449 was worth it. I love my Riptide but wondered if I should 1.pay for the $449 ipilot to go on it 2. get the ulterra 3. keep what I got til it goes bad then get the ulterra.
My question is the anchor the only feature the ipilot gives without linking it or will it backtrack and hold a certain depth(like following a ledge). Got a feeling I will be getting he ipilot add on this summer for my Riptide
Thanks for bringing this topic up

The IPilot will create and store 6 routes, you can create anchor points that it will return to. But it will not follow the contour like the link. From what I have seen that's the only advantage to the link. My personal opinion is the Link is more geared towards Walleye fishermen than anyone else since they troll and follow contours most of the time year round. Depending on which lake you fish a lot of the contour lines would drive you crazy switching back and forth trying to follow them spider rigging or even pulling cranks.
Have lunch while your boat maintains course and speed.
