Default Performance chip for a gas burner truck?

Thinking about getting a performance chip for my GMC 1500. Mainly to help with towing and possibly fuel mileage. Not trying to win a race, just want it to pull my boat and other heavier loads a little better. Anyone have any pros and cons of chips?

chips are not good for GM transmissions. You will gain a little fuel economy and a lot more HP, but I dnt think the gain is worth the price of a transmission.

That 1500 probably has 3:73 gears. I have one and they are not the best for performance chips. Gearing is too high.
