The sad part is I live just a few miles from one of the main distribution terminals off the Mississippi.Everyone gets there gas there then hauls it around....but sometimes gas will be cheaper 50 miles away....even though they hauled it that extra milage.Crazy ain't it? And yeah some of them have their additives they put in(at least they are suppose to if its marketed that way) but It all comes from the same place.I am sure their is a lot I don't know about it,not sure how many grades or variants they have on those barges when they off load.Been a while since I just set and watched them.
Most everything is automated nowadays. Driver has a card for each company they haul for. Has to be a order placed through the refinery, he pulls up to the rack and inserts a card for that load, it automatically add's the proper amount of the proper ad dative for that load. Only thing up in this area I had trouble with was I had to manually add winter and additive to my Diesel tanks for my drivers who went up north up until mid December. Then I could get it at refinery added to the tanker.
