Default Bream and Crappie bank fishing spots in the Golden Triangle

    Hi guys,

I'm a grad student at Mississippi state and I try to fish as much as possible mainly for crappie and bream. I don't have a boat so if anybody knows any places where I can catch crappie and bream from the bank in the golden triangle (starkville, noxubee, West Point, lowndes etc) I know about lake lowndes in new hope, I've caught some big bream and big shellcrackers there but those are the only ones..people are still allowed to fish at okitebbha county lake and I always catch a good number of bream and crappie but they are all small.

That's about it except for the noxubbee refuge lakes, and they are closed to fishing November thru March 1st. Since you don't have a boat, you may want to try finding a private pond or lake.

Thanks! I just looked up the depth map for Choctaw lake and those piers look pretty promising I see they have put some cover in the lake. Hopefully I can get out there in the next week or so and hopefully the water temp is in the 60s and those fish have moved shallow a bit if not I will try in deep water along the dam

The WMA Black Prairie has a couple of small lakes that may be worth checking out for fishing. The Wildlife and Fisheries Department on campus should have some info on these small lakes or can get you in contact with the area manager. I would bet they have good bank fishing for bream and bass and probably get very little fishing pressure.
