Well that's better than if you would have bought the starter. You had said that you jumped out the solenoid and it started. So I would have also thought it would have been the solenoid also.

Yep, the key would turn to the crank position and nothing happened. In the run position I jumped out the solenoid and it would run. I wouldn't have thought of that at first.
This ignition is at an angle on the dashboard. Working in dusty conditions allows a little trash to enter the key slot everytime it's used. My key was getting to the point of not but half of it was in the slot. That's the main reason I removed it for a cleaning. Since I had it out, might as well clean and lube the electrical points.
