AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) -- A search is underway on the Tombigbee River in Monroe County for two missing boaters.
Authorities say 64-year-old Harold McCreight and 69-year-old Winford Holmes Jr. launched their boat around 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Officials received a call from family around 11 p.m. the same night saying the two Pontotoc men didn't return from the fishing trip.
A search was conducted near and south of the Highway 278 bridge near Amory.
The boat was found capsized in the river about a mile-and-a-half south of the bridge around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Officials say the water in the river is high because of recent rains and has flooded some backwater areas.
