Would a older model non fuel injected motor(say 50 or larger ) be a deal killer on a boat buy for you ? looking for a Yamaha actually but was wondering which was a better motor efi or not . I know the 4 stroke changed the world but I never owned anything over a 25 hpr .

I myself never want anything with carburetors again. Fuel injection is the only way to go imo.

Can you say CARB Issues. JMO, but one of the worst engines ever made. The carbs can be very ticky about being cleaned and serviced. I do like them with the respect that I make tons of $$$$$ Working on em tho. Mercury motors

I think you would have to look to G's sponsor for the answer to that question. Depends.

Im with BRM. I have had 3. All were die hards if ya could keep em running. Carbs are terrible on them. It was never anything major, but it was ALWAYS something. I have my 4th Merc now. Its a 4-stroke. I was skeptical about it but decided dont knock it til ya tried it. So far so good!

Dead on LP. The Mercs run good when they run, they are just finicky.
