Women's rights
A lot of talk now on woman's rights reminds me of a soldier friends trip back to SE Asia. He was alert to the changes that had occurred. He commented to one native that much progress has been made in women's rights. He said "Last time I was here in 1958 women were not looked on as equals. They were made to walk behind the men with the cows and other farm animals. Now here in 1990 they have been raised to the level of equals. In fact, they walk at the head of the group as much as 30 ft in the lead!! To what do we contribute this great advance?" The villager replied " Land mines."
