    Default Lake Lamar Bruce

I hear will soon be open again. It used to be an excellent bream lake and had lots of 3/4 lb crappie. G, have you heard any info about the quality of the bream? I know this was one of your old haunts and I bet you are chomping at the bits to go there again.

Man yeh....I am ready .... Before they closed it down I used to fish for red ears there about three or four times a week...year around. It will be interesting to see if they use the same general locations as before. They have Trace State Park drained down real low now working on the dam. They made a one lane temp boat ramp but its not very good....just red dirt and some gravel....and with all this rain its really unusable.

Never caught a magnolia there buy I have caught crappie there........jigs around the outlet structure and pushing crankbaits in open water. A friend of mine has done good with a float and fly rig up at the upper end around structure. But yeh, I heard that the only crappie they stocked it with this time is the hybrid magnoila crappie because of the small size of the lake.

I caught a lot of pre spawn and spawning crappie there years ago. We had actually going to catch spawning shellcrackers, we missed that but found out about the overpopulation problem with the crappie. We did our best to alleviate the problem. I am sure they do not want a repeat of that problem and the magnolia is the answer

Oh.... I had some friends that used to go there chasing the gills but I never had the pleasure of fishing it. Glad to hear they have it back up and going!

So if hybrid magnolia crappie can't reproduce...do they spawn? lol or take spawn patterns? Also how many do u think they put? Would they be worth pursuing after if they won't be reproducing after a year they may be far and few between
