Mine are in the boat and its covered and raining rite now, will try to get some pics later on this week. Its simple stuff, Snap hook on one end of a 25 foot rope, other end of the rope tied to the chain, in my case a 5 foot section of 5/16 chain, some times I ad 5 more foot of 1/4 inch chain if its really bad.
Chain came out of the Lowensteins Building in Mempho.Buddy of mine was a elevator mech. and they was taking out a elevator. He got nearly 1,000 ft of chain. It had a braided cloth rope running the length in and out of the links for quiet.I got 50 ft. back in the 70's and been using it ever since.1 chain had me going kinda sideways. 2 and strait as can be.
If you only need one chain , throw it out on the opposite side from where it is tied, it will come back to center on the big motor and you will drift straight
Great idea Mike
Here's a pic of my chain setup, the other side is the same. 6ft of 1/2in chain, 25ft of 3/8in rope.

I use two 5 foot, 3 /8" chain on 25 feet of nylon cord. Let out more rope to go slower. Experiment with it...you'll catch on real quick.
Does the chain get hung up much? Does it stay in contact with the bottom? Thanks for the pic.
