Trolling motor that is controlled with a remote...???

I agree with ATM. i got a pdv2 12v and can get 3-4 hours out of it pullin. i do have 2 12v batteries in my front compartment, but rarely run the second battery. at my age 3-4 hours pulling is enough for this kid. if your gonna pull all day i would save my chippies and get a 24v terrova. you stated you wanted a "basic unit". i would put the terrova towards the upper end. with my pdv2 i can remote or use the foot control. i use my 597 ff for speed, water temp, depth, etc.

I run a 1860 Horizon aluminum boat. When I went from a PowerDrive 55 Co-pilot to my Terrova 80 I-pilot, I decided the heck with looks and bring on the functionality. My boat was originally wired for a 12 volt system, then I wired it for 12 volt parallel, then 24 volt. I decided to shorten my battery cables and make them more accessible so I moved them up to right behind my casting deck and installed a small deck extension to partially cover them. I can't say it will win any beauty contests but it sure does make it easier to do maintenance. Funny thing is I don't remember anybody who has been in my boat since ever saying anything about the way it looks. If you have the room and the funds, you will never regret putting a Terrova 80 I-pilot on a boat the size of yours. You may not need all that motor very often but when you do you will glad you have it.
