March 14 Grenada. It will be cool to have the FJ going on at the same time just like the Big Fish at Enid at Fall camp. There will be lots of extra help to get the tournament handled,18-19 cabins available that week, anybody that wants to fish the FJ will be right there to enter if they want!We need some sticky's posted with some dates and lakes and let everyone vote. Majority wins and you can't please everyone. Lets GIT ER DONE!!This way all the folks south of Grenada will be closer and it ain't no piece for the folks north of Grenada to drive down. Sept those folks in Ark.Mizzou, and Ill.who make it anyway!
Gobob. You have not offended me in any way. Your comments were positive and constructive. You are very welcome, as is everyone else at any of our camps. This is the 81st post on this thread. What does bother me, is that we are not one bit closer to getting a lake and date set. I have to plan ahead, The April tornado got my Mom's house, She got dementia and lost her mind, and I have to care for her daily. I have to plan ahead to get things done. I am sure there are others that need to plan for work ect... Hope this camp does not die.. It is a great idea...Good folks..
You don't need anyone person in charge of the camp as long as you got a good committee to help make the dicisions. That is how we do our camp and everyone has a great time, then there is always others that are willing to lend a hand when needed. When we started planning our camp, we took into consideration when other states was having theirs, any holidays and finally the spawn which limited us to dates but found the weekend between Mothers Day and Memorial Day seems to work. The only thing that interferes with that dates is the possibility of schools graduation, but as already mentioned by others, you can't make everyone happy, you just got to do the best you can. And making a sticky with dates and lakes to vote on is something we did too. It a great idea and anyone can vote for more than one option but not the same one twice. Just my :twocents. Hopes this helps out and I can't wait to come on down and visit with you all.
I still think Barnett would be perfect lol
Come on guys someone get a date set. If you will get it rolling, I will even cook again. That if you want me to do it? Hope its on the weekend I can make it. But will try to make what ever date its set on.
Pete
Grenada March 14th, I am booking a campsite at north graysport and here is Hambones number, 662-458-3197, how's that sound?
Red, I think we could have a smoke off and no one would have to slave over a fish cooker all afternoon.
Give us some links to the campground.
Only thing I see...Would be the time to serve the meal that let us finish the weigh-in..OTT go for it.
Ok where is the official campground? 2 listed above and would sure like to be around the same spots where everyone else will be camping. Be it the one we used last spring? Hugh white? Or North GreySport?
I know lots of ???
Pete
Ree's, is this official then having camp on the weekend of the 14th ?
Steve, wrong campground. Unless someone wanted to camp at the outlet channel.
I tried to pull up North Graysport (Gray's Port) campground, but this Mac won't let me.
Go to Grenada lakes on the corps site and then recreation. Will post a link when I get home.
As far as official I don't know.
I don't want to reserve a cabin yet if its not is my only concern. That weekend is fine by me, It was a couple of weeks later this year, but as long as the 3 lb fish are there its ok with me.
So are we going with March 14?
I have 12-B at Hugh White booked.. Thursday thru Saturday. Whatever we cook will be good by me.
All yee sayeth yes to March 14. Sound off!YES-1
I stayed in Hugh White in a cabin next to DD and down from clfarmes last year. It weren't no piece from the main ramp and the other campground and I like the pavilion! There was plenty of parking space and close to the cabins and campgrounds!
March 14 Nader I say I lol. CL send me the numbers to book my cabin
you need to go to reserve america hugh white state park
I like calling the park office better. 662-226-4934, Hugh White
Thanks. I am setting up for the fruit jar. can't seem to get anything definite of the camp.
So let's form a committee who is in me , knightshadow, CL farms , anyone else let's lock it down and move on ! All agreed say I
So is this a done deal ? :dono
Dont see why not, hasnt been much opposition to it.
Ok then that's that March 14 at Nader done deal
I will get the links together for cabins and campgrounds and post a thread in the morning, will get G to sticky it for us and lock it.
Looking forward to it.
we have our cabin booked, sharing one with Paul and Vonna
I'm goingto talk to my cousin this afternoonand will be booking my place tonight.
Guys , I will have a load on me again this year. Am still cleaning up my Mom's house after the tornado, and getting it ready to sell. She has alzhiemers, and I had to put her in assisted living.. It has been a nightmare adjustment period. Either my wife, or I have to be home at all times... Instead of camping for a week, I will be lucky to stay the three days I have booked . I do not feel I will be effective, if put on a committee, but will be glad to work any that I can to help out. Hope you understand.
May be worth a look to see how many of the local regulars your going to loose to Crappiemasters. You have a lot of good local fishermen that may be on the other side of the state.
Also, if the FJ stop fishing time is 2:00 and the weigh-in cut off is 3:00 like normal then a fish fry would be out of the question. By the time you finish the weigh-in @3:30, rush back to the cabin/campground and drop off the boat and pick up the items you committed to bring and race to the pavilion, your looking at 4:00 to actually start cooking and would be eating between 5:00 -5:30. Is that what you have in mind?
