motor, I don't have to add any in the tank that is in the boat just yet but I am not sure what kind was being used by previous owner. I have both Yamalube and Quicksilver already and just not sure if its a big deal on mixing brands of oil in the onboard tank or not. I have Quicksilver left from my other motor (Mercury) and found a deal on the Yamalube so I went ahead and got a gallon of it

Wouldn't think it would hurt..........I would have no problem with it. When my Yamalube runs out for my 250, I'm gonna try to find a cheaper brand, that Yamalube is just too high. Thinking about Quicksilver myself. Yamaha says other oils will void the warranty, but I don't know. All manufacturers recommend their own brand of oil......for after the sale income, I think. I have a 1998 40 HP Johnson, and I have run every kind of oil imaginable in it, and never had any problems........and I've used it a lot. I have mixed different types of oil in it many times, never gave it a second thought.

If it is under warranty....I would stick with the manufactures oil......out of warranty I would use others as long as it meets the specs.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

It's a no no to mix brands and even a no no to mix different types of the same brand. It's said that some mixes will gell. If ya can't find out what the previous owner was using, completely drain and clean the old tank/tanks and go with what ya want.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
