My planers won't hold up a 3 or 4 oz weight and push a crank. Does that tadpole weigh anything, or is it just the size of the thing that dives it?
It has some weight....works with the large planer boards....I have not tried the mini boards yet.
They have the dive charts on the Off Shore website
It is made to dive tho and when you reel in a fish the line snap slides to the front to make it easier to bring in.
Shepard was pushing 1/64 oz jigs @ 1.5 during crappie masters
We do it all the time.....sometimes with RR's but other things a lot also.....truth be known we usually run doubles when pulling crankbaits......caught our biggest fish in Lee on Friday pulling a crank with a RR above it....caught the fish on the crank that time. We usually use a 48 inch spacing. Just don't put a deep diver on top, LOL! Can also put a snap weight (OR-16 clip) in the middle if need to.
Have not used the Tadpole but have used the Offshore Guppy....what I don't like about those is that they are not made out of lead and the density is too low making the size of the weight too big and creating too much drag. We do use 2 oz Torpedo weights with OR-16 clips a lot....very little drag and they keep the bait down excellent for power trolling.
