Yep, I did go House hunting before I decided to build. I was amazed The homes that were built at ground level. Did not make sense to me
Stopped by just now to check on the progress. Looks like we got a few blocks laid. Attachment 175206Attachment 175207Attachment 175208Attachment 175209Attachment 175210

looking good Chris, from what I can see you better have a good framer.
Don't let Kevin see those deer. You will have a visitor.
Looking Good.... What kinda insulation ya using. And what type windows, h&a? Being in the a/c business I'm always thinking about the power bill.....
Thinking about the expanding foam insulation, will have vinyl double pane windows, and 2 three ton a/c units.
Chris, the way they did ours was sprayed 1 1/2 in of expanding foam then the regular bat type insulation over that. Does a pretty good job. Just need to make sure they seal good around windows. My neighbor has a insulation I had never seen before. They put a netting from celling to floor and stapled it to each stud. Then they sprayed in a mixture of shredded paper insulation mixed with some kind of glue. It works pretty good because he has a lot more house than us and his utility Bill is about a third less.
Use the open cell if you foam..... Fill the wall cavities and put 5.5 in ceiling. This will give you your best power bill and be your quickest payback. My cabin has this method. It's 3200 sq ft and the power bill runs from 75-150 a month .averages about 100 yr round. We do a lot of foam houses and the closed cell houses do not have as good power bills. Stay away from the cellulose (ground up newspaper). It will give good power bills but your house will stay dusty. I have it in my house , so I know this for a fact.
Oh take a look at low e on your glass it helps year around and it's cheap..... Hope this pointers help . Good luck whichever way you go.
Looks like you doing foundation like my contractor did mine. Lookin good. We started roofing today and tomorrow we start wiring. Will post pics after the roof is done.
More progress, the plumbers are coming tommorow!Attachment 175537Attachment 175538

:hatchet::hatchet:You gonna have to roof it from the top, that joker is cut up!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll stay glued to this thread for a while. Thanks for sharing the photos.
I can tell from that roof pic it's gonna be a heckuva nice new crib!!!!
I'm excited for you buddy!
Wishing you God's Speed with the rebuilding project brother... Lord knows you (and many others in the area) have been through a whole lot.
That 16 in 12 means you will have 16 fractures and be in the emergency room for 12 hours if you make a wrong step while on top of it :)
How to keep dust out.... spray foam around all can lights, ceiling elec boxs, all wire holes through plates. Caulk every stud where it meets plywood bottom plates to concrete floor and where top plates sit on top of each other. Caulk keeps out spiders/bugs or at least limits em. You keep the air from moving that cellulose you limit the dust. I glue house wrapping to block foundation with f-26 at the bottom too. No Leakey air no dust....that is all!!
I got my drain lines roughed in today. Planing to pour the slab next week.Attachment 175661
